Im only being so feisty with the numbers because of the low quality animation. The characters rock. The idea is gold. The plot is funny as hell. The dialogue is funny as well. and I saw this about three times and loled each occasion.
Good job and happy Holidays!

Well thank you very much. Happy holidays to you too!

why is it rated only T for Teen? It drops the F-bomb in its title and it deals with a grisly death.
But rating schematics aside, it does present the concept of "How in-game puzzles are useless" into a realistic setting. Nothing we haven't seen before, but done well enough so that it's occurrence becomes both ironic and entertaining.
Drawing presents a unique brownish hue that decrypts something between a noir and realistic setting. Since the idea is to make it a realistic detective story that is interrupted by useless puzzles true to the original Professor Layton games, it is only iconic.
The sound presents a serious tone that provides contrast to the nature of the film. It makes the jokes presented seem out of place - in a way that is laughable.
There is little animation in this film. Not much movement is shown, and the movement hat is shown has a "shadow puppet" feel to it that does its job of revealing the characters and nothing more.
The jokes are well placed, as stated before, and work well in the setting. If this was a bit less predictable I would give it a ten rather then a nine.
I hope you find this commentary helpful :).

Boy do I remember that system.
The blue screen of death was nay more familiar on and other computer system then the ancient NES.
Way to relive my childhood fustrations :)

This is definitely one of those pieces that deserve a round of applause for being original AND tasteful.
Such a rarity on Newgrounds.
Thumbs up for presentation.
great detail
artwork is superb
no sound, hence the nine
music score makes up for it.
and the drawing is charming.

Never a dull moment in this production.
Nonstop action puts even the latest madness movies on edge.
Only complaint is that sometimes there is just too much going on at once to truly appreciate the animation with one run through.
Unless that was the plan :)
Author's Response:
Thanks,
Looking back, that's actually my main grief with the movie. I was worried that the action might be a bit too hectic at times. (The archers in scene 1 come to mind)

I was always in the train of thought that the melting pot was a way of accepting other cultures rater then assimilating them.
While I understand that you "rib what you love" in this flash cartoon, you give the impression that you seriously regret what kind of culture and ideas capitalism spawns from its attempt to captivate the public.
This can safely be labeled "satire" since it does the same thing many satirists like Johnathan Swift do to their own cultures; pokes fun at them with ruthless criticism.
I have no qualms with radical ideas (so long as their holders respect my own) and I find this new look at the American way to be... interesting.
The animation is well polished and original enough to be labeled a 9, but is to critical to be funny, and does not deserve a 10.
Good job nonetheless

"Another epic addition to the franchise!"
I love giving positive reviews; especially to people who deserve them!
I love the truly over the top feel that follows the entire film.
The fact that it was completely consistent with the previous episodes predilection makes it seem like Puppy's balls really should be twitching for you plot devices (see episode 17) .
Having a horny cousin puts (dare I say it) a legitimate erotic component in Puppies usual sensual escapades.
You reintroduce familiar characters with increasing complexity in order to create new gags and reward the fan base (always a good plan) while simultaneously introducing brand new characters like the rude amp salesman who's unfair business practices will go criticized at the price of his lewd, awful, and poorly amplified voice of treason. All which are both awesome and fit into the previous plot niches nicely.
The grand finale is not worth spoiling, so I will say only this; red rockets will explode and you will like it.
I only give you a nice for somewhat tacked on graphic design and an inability to select scenes. We all gave you a fair amount of time, so be thankful for the A-!
My advice to you for getting a ten from me is to simpy give us a more polished drawing standard. Then let Matt Groening complain about it on his second ship to mars!! :)

SO little times do freelance game designers use the story telling part of their imaginations...
